Slumber Party | process spotlight
Writer Erin Turvey has spent the last months writing and revising, building sets with dynamic collage panels, and scouting locations, all part of a 2025-26 Big Field Fund Research/Development grant. With aims to examine the lasting social and economic impact agricultural industrialization has had on Midwestern communities during the 1980’s, the script follows a young woman working for her father’s struggling print shop, Quick Print, and ensuing interactions in and out of the shop. Following a recent casting call, the next phase of “Slumber Party” includes time to try out low-budget production methods, survey narrative forms, scrutinize the script, and practice live-action experimentation on film. Stay tuned for a 10-20 minute proof-of-concept short later this year!
