Meandering River | (partial record)
On May 18th, in resplendent light, the first iteration of the Meandering River project took place in Iowa City, IA. Situated along the Iowa River, 80 people took a guided walk from the Lagoon Shelter House to the Park Road bridge. The event enhanced participants’ perception and increased awareness of the river as “an active, expressive force in a shared ecosystem.” This place-based meander suffused the soundscape with data-driven melodies and offered glimpses of dancers entangled with the history and agency of the waterway. As the golden hour arrived and waned, participants walked away, carrying an interactive kit to further engage and wonder at the dynamic relationship between water and bodies.
For those seeking another opportunity to see it, there will be a second iteration on September 20, as part of the 2025 Infinite Dream Festival.
